ABOUT Instructor - RAPHAEL CARRAO

Born in Sao Paulo State in Brazil, Raphael Carrao got involved in the world of Martial Arts at a very early age. When he was just five years old he practiced Judo until the age of ten. Fascinated with the discipline, he then started training Muay-Thay for years.

Looking to expand his knowledge in Martial Arts he began his education in the art of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu with Master Roberto Godoy and Roberto Tozi (One of Brazil’s top competition teams). It was at this time that Rapha began competing and progressing while winning titles in his divisions.

In 2004 Rapha moved to Los Angeles and continued his Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu education under the guidance of John and Rigan Machado. Rapha earned his black belt under Rigan Machado BJJ and is currently competing under the Street Sports BJJ Club in Santa Monica, CA. Now residing in Malibu, CA, Rapha brings his years of knowledge and expertise in Martial Arts training to Malibu Fitness, looking to bring self-discipline and self-defense awareness to the community.
